The idea came about from Botticelli's famous Birth of Venus painting. I love this painting but rather than reproducing the whole picture I decided to use the background but create the birth of the mad hatter taken from Alice in wonderland. I have added the March Hare and Alice as a mermaid. I think the ostrich with its head below ground says everything about what is going on around it, mad!!
